For those of you with multiple snakes...

I now have three beautiful snakes in my home. They are all super friendly and my normal loves being handled. If I open his tub, he tried slithering into my hand every time.

anyway, my question is, with multiple snakes, how often do you handle them? Do you handle each of them on the same day or do you break them into separate days?

Does it make a difference if you handle all of your snakes on the same day? they wouldn't get territorial, would they?

I only handle mine when they need to be cleaned out or when I feel like taking pics of them, so that could be just one or two a day to multiple. Other than that I leave them all be since I know that's what they prefer. I sanitize between handling each snake and haven't had any issues with any behaving differently.

Re: For those of you with multiple snakes...

You really shouldn't handle a snake to often, as it can stress them out. If you want to hold a snake every day, I would maybe rotate a little so they get some time alone for a few days at least

Honestly? If the snake is new, off food, digesting, or shedding, I leave it alone.

If it's not any of those things: whenever I bloody well feel like it. Though, yes, to washing hands between snakes, especially when they're new.

I won't be messing with the new ones for a bit. I was just curious to see how anyone else with multiples handled them. .

Re: For those of you with multiple snakes...

I have about 40, almost 40, something like that. I find myself handling the bigger ones most often. They just really do it for me lol. Plus my big ones won't be able to be "handled" in the general sense forever. After a few years at best I will still be able to handle them, but it will be more like take em out and watch them lol. Gonna get to big to let crawl all over me haha.

    Like this:

But on average I handle maybe 2-3 a day. Maybe only for a few mins but I don't want a retic growing up with very little human interaction. Aside from that just cleaning gets most handled everyday lol. They sure like to mess up their tubs

Re: For those of you with multiple snakes...

I cycle mine. If Persephone and Kismet had their way, they 'd both be out every day. But with the baby in the house and in quarantine from the big girls, I cycle everyone. If any of them have a gig during the week, I leave her be until then (as they typically will be out for 2-3 hours for a gig).

It just really depends on the snake. My spider loki loves to come out all the time. But I always sanitize my hands before I touch any of them.

Re: For those of you with multiple snakes...

I generally handle them only for cleaning, my raise up female carpets I try to handle enough to make taking eggs easier, otherwise that's about it. I do try to do an inspection type handling a couple times a week. Let's me know if the girls are building, check for mites, and RIs, but as far as like sitting there holding one while watching tv? Not so much anymore.

Re: For those of you with multiple snakes...

I try to rotate mine. Some days I handle 1, others I handle 1-4. Depends on the snake, the snake's mood, my mood, and what I'm doing.
