    New Ball Python Male

This is my first snake. He seemed to click with me, right off the bat. I brought him home, and since today was his normal scheduled feeding day, I gave it a shot, and low and behold he ate for me, no issues. He seemed to spend about two hours after checking out his new digs, then settled in under his little rock cave and went to sleep. I'm thinking this is all good new stuff, right? Any advice is totally great and appreciated! Any idea on him having some pastel in him? His colors are so bright!

The Golds and Yellows are so bright. And he's so friendly.

Congratulations! Be warned that the excitement's addictive - but even beyond that, they are just the sweetest snakes in the world.

I really think he's "just" a regular normal. Some of them can be crazy bright.

    This is my girl:

    Compared to my pastel boy:

They tend to brown out when they get older and can make things harder to tell, but when they're young (AS THE NEWB UNDERSTANDS IT) they're pretty yellow.

I'll take my "normal". There were two together, but this one relaxed for me instantly, where his tank mate did not. And he has the best feeding track record too. I'm so happy with him, and he seems happy too!

I love, love, love my normal girl and I think she's just about the prettiest snake I've ever seen. She is *CERTAINLY* the sweetest.

It's amazing how much personality differences they can show. The girl just kind of moseys up to her food, casually bites and wraps with an air of laziness that makes me giggle. Herc (the pastel boy) knocked the thing out of my hand. Pretty indicative of how different they are. Both sweet but the girl's just CRAZY laid back.

(Basically, please don't think that 'just' was meant to be disparaging or something - I freaking LOVE my normal like crazy, and honestly think they're the prettiest.)

No offense taken. There was a pastel there that didn't look nearly as interesting as this guy (not yet named). He literally snatched the food right of of the tong things. I was shocked after all the warnings about him not eating, etc.
