Feeding Mice treated for Mites
I have a question related to feeding mice that were treated for mites. Last Tuesday (a week ago today) I treated all my mice for a mite problem that I discovered. I essentially sprayed them down with 8 in 1 flea and tick treatment, and I threw out all of their bedding. In addition I soaked EVERYTHING in bleach water and moved them all to a new building. I am wondering when it is safe to feed those mice to my snakes? I have waited a week, and I would love to feed them tonight, but I am really nervous. What do you snake savvy people out there think?

What is the active ingredient? The various insecticides all have different half-lives, and some are fatal to reptiles even in small amounts if ingested.

Re: Feeding Mice treated for Mites
The active ingredient are 0.06% pyrethrins and 0.6% piperonyl butoxide.

Assuming you keep your rats indoors in tubs, I wouldn't feed the snakes yet. If exposed to sunlight those substances break down pretty quickly. If not they persist for quite a while.
