Desert ghost is a totally different morph than desert. Desert is dominant, desert ghost is recessive. Other than the names they have nothing to do with each other, though many people confuse them due to the similarity in the names.
Desert females are infertile, slug out, and/or become egg-bound. I don't think any breeder to date has successfully produced a viable clutch of eggs out of one.

Re: desert and desert ghost
Desert ghost is a recessive mutation. The patterning is pretty similar to desert, but as the snake ages it lightens up like crazy, almost like a fire on steriods. Its a killer mutation thats still pretty early in the development of the project.
Its a recessive mutation, so females have to be fertile, because a recessive mutation needs to be passed on from both dam and sire

If I remember correctly a wild caught snake or two were caught after the recessive desert ghost was already being bred in captivity. They assumed they were the same thing and called them desert ghosts. After breeding them and realizing they were codom and not recessive they knew they were working with a new morph. Instead of changing the name like they should have they just dropped the ghost part of the name and you ended up with deserts. To this day I still think it hurts the desert ghost morph and has held it back from it's true potential. Here are a couple of pics of my desert ghost. You can see from these two pics how he has lightened up and they just keep getting better and better. They start out almost a golden color and as they mature turn to almost an ivory color.
desert ghost x superblast

desert ghost x genetic stripe
