Stupid Feeding Question - Baby Ball

Is this rat pup too big for my new hypo butter bee? It's my first time feeding her, she arrived early last week, just finished her shed, hadn't eaten in two weeks, and seemed pretty comfy with her new environment...so I picked up this rat pup (as her last few meals have been rat pups). Everytime I check she's climbed up on something staring at the rat and then gives me a look like, "hey! There's a rat in my cage!"

LOL @ "hey, there's a rat in my cage". That was funny. As for the rat size, in my humble opinion, it looks just about right. It looks about the same girth, if not a bit smaller, than you BP's midsection which is ideal. Maybe give her a bit more time before trying to feed again.

I've had horrible luck with feeding my live eaters! My eldest is on a a Winter food strike still and this newbie is like, "eww there's vermin in here." I'm getting a complex lol!

Ok, I'll pull the fuzz ball out, and maybe try again later tonight...or tomorrow night.

I would offer what the breeder was feeding before you got it.

They were offering rat pups...they had different sizes at the pet store, which is the only reason I asked.

The rat pup looks to be the right size, but I would not try again until next week at the same bat time and the same bat channel. Presenting the rat too often to an animal who is not interested in eating in can cause stress, which can lead to further refusals to eat.

    SHE ATE!!!

And she seems to still be hungry...lol! I'm putting her on a standard 5 day feeding schedule at this point, so she can wait a few more days.

Good to hear. It's always a huge relief for me when my guys eat so I'm sure you're a bit more at ease with your newbie.

Seems like a good size, as long as the rat isnt larger than the girth of the snake... Ugh I hate the word girth... I'm gonna go take a shower now.
