    Baby BP Striking At Me

Okay so I thought I was a snake expert until my new ball python struck at me. This snake was born in 11/2013. I've only had him for a week and I haven't bothered him at all, except for spraying the tank. However, today while spraying he struck at my hand. This was the first time he was out of his hide while I sprayed. Do you think the spray scared him? Maybe I'm a little shocked because my previous ball python NEVER struck at me. I have no idea how too approach the situation.

Ohh and he is currently in the "S" position....

Its just a baby give it time to realize that the big giant isnt gonna hurt him. Also let it feed a few time so it learns the difference between a mouse and youre hand. How high is the pressure in what you are using to spray?

Well if you just got him and he's only been with you for a week he's just being defensive being in a new environment. He should calm down once he settles in and become more comfortable with you and his new home. Most snakes don't like to be misted so that probably didn't make him too happy lol. But don't worry he will calm down just let him settle and try not to disturb him. Once he settles and starts eating for you consistently you can begin to handle him and get him used to you.

Babies tend to be more nippy. Once he figures out you aren't going to eat him he should calm down.

Imagine if something 1000 times your size went to pick you up...what would you do? He will get used to you in time.

Baby Ball Python = Smallest thing on the African food chain. He should get better with age and size. Even if he does get ahold of you, at this age it's a little bit like being viciously attacked by Velcro...

Will do. The pressure seems pretty low... I'm not exactly sure.

I never thought of that. Maybe it was the mist that really upset him. My other ball python didn't mind being misted, but I guess this one is not such a fan.

Thank You, I wish I was smart enough to have come up with that one on my own, but it's not a Slim original. That saying has been around the community longer than I have LOL
