    Backwater Reptiles question !!!!

Are they a reputable breeder ? Cause I have heard so many negative reviews & many positive reviews. I was thinking about getting a pastel from because the price sounds reasonable. Good or bad ideal ?

    I haven't dealt with them.
Best I could tell you is to read reviews and use your better judgment.

I just pulled up their BoI to look at them and I wouldn't use them personally.

Yea, I wouldn't personally either. I know somebody who got a snake from them and it died like 4 days later. If they're getting a lot of negative reviews then I personally stay away. It's not the fact that stuff goes wrong, but with most places it's the lack of how they handle it that gets them the negative review.

I had an issue with my first rack(shipping mixup) but the guy handled it flawlessly and even gave me a refund for my shipping which I did not even ask for. To me that's customer service because he fixed the problem and let me know immediately and refunded me shipping which was money out of his own pocket. It's just about how you handle a situation.

I used to deal with scorpions on a large scale and I've had one or twice a package get lost and then get there a week later with dead animals, then at the same time I've had it happen and everything get there fine. I took care of what went wrong without hesitation though and that's why I don't have any bad reviews.

I honestly don't hear great things about their animal stock. As far as supplies go they're decent, but their animal's health quality is subpar.

I got my bee het hypo from them at white plains expo in jan.

I asked many questions before I decided to grab him.
They dont know when animals last ate or shed or how old or really much about them but the animals they had at the expo looked healthy.

They were friendly dudes and all.

I wouldnt get anything from them again personally but my Bee is a trashcan sweetheart so im glad 1000% i got him.

Something seemed off though, ya know.

Well the first thing is that they are not breeders, they buy animals from breeders.

Reputable? That is up to you to make up your mind based on what you read.

    Re: Backwater Reptiles question !!!!

I would never buy from Backwater Reptiles. I had a quite frustrating experience with them. I bought a Brazilian Rainbow Boa baby. Paid for it in full, and three days later I received an email from the company stating that they had run out of those particular snakes. I asked for a refund, and it took another two days for the money to be returned to me, but when it did, $8.33 were missing. I understand that both the delay in refunding the money and the missing amount may have been the result of PayPal processing, but I blame it entirely on Backwater Reptiles, who should have updated their website to indicate that they were out of stock. No respectable seller does that. I posted a comment on their Facebook page, describing my experience with them. Within an hour, they deleted the comment and blocked me. That's so dishonest.
Not to mention that they do not provide a contact number; they can only be contacted via email or fax, which leaves the customer at their merci.
