So simply because this happened to me last year - do you have any other pics of the ovulation? The reason I ask is because I had distinct swelling like that and thought for sure it was an ovy, that the next shed was the pre-lay, etc. Turns out it was the pre-ov shed and she swole up like football after that shed. Surprise!

Anyway, the tail suck is really the best way to tell if it's for real or not. Was her tail totally skin and bones looking during that ovy and now it's normal again?

This is my first year breeding, so I'm learning as we go. But, she has been following the "timeline" like clockwork for me. She had the pre ov shed, and after that shed she had her "glow". Then we had ovy, it was much more visible to the eye. (It was huge and swollen), these pics didn't really get it (she also denied the boy I put in a week or so before the ovy, where she has previously been a very eager breeder). Then about 14-16 days after ovy, pre-lay shed. She was then restless for a day or two. She is now curled up in a pretty little coil on the hot side of the tub, looking very much miserable with a ridge back. I'm expecting eggs in about 2 weeks.

If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
