Pardon the pun, but all that crap is just snake oil, designed to separate you from your cash.
The best thing you can do for your Ball Python's scales it to feed it properly, provide it with the proper humidity and temperature every day (not just when you see their eyes turn blue), and let the snake do the rest.

Re: Scale Conditioning
I keep a bottle of zoo meds "repti shed aid" around for emergency use. It works great on the rare occasion someone has a shed issue, but like slim said proper husbandry is always the permanent solution

A waste of money that's all it is, for proper shed all you need is meet their husbandry need, if you do not then you need to.

And if for some reason your snake has a bad shed the only thing you need is some lukewarm water, a tub, and a washcloth. Snake goes in the lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes, take the snake out and let it run through the washcloth, and there's a nice clean snake. And even if you do end up with a bad shed, the next good shed means it'll all come off so you don't even need to do the soak. Rubbing a snake with oil designed to soften skin can lead to scale sloughing, and then you've got a real problem on your hands.
