Well I was ready to give up on this breeding season, I got home from the reptile show today and to my surprise my 100% het pied female laid 5 good eggs for me. They are gorgeous, I wish I had taken a picture of her and our first clutch of BP eggs, but I was so excited I forgot. So theres still hope, I am still waiting on 2 more clutches of poss. het Pied, 1 clutch of het Albino and 3 clutches of poss. het Albino eggs.

    BREEZE

Congrats! That must be so excitting, to see your first clutch of eggs. I cant wait to see pics.
I have a question. If you breed your resulting babies back to their het mother once they grow up, will you get any piebalds? I am so bad with this genetics stuff.

Congratulations! I know you're excited. I guess since you imply you've missed your opportunity to take pics that you're not letting mom incubate the eggs? How many incubators do you have?

Hi Guys -Thanks for all the shared excitement, I am really excited and my family is ok with the reptiles but they just don't get all excited about them so it's nice having other herp lovers to share my exciting news with.
I did remove the eggs from the mother, I built an incubator last year. Its about 48" tall, 30" wide and 20" deep. It's a little small for the BP clutches. I had built it for my corn clutches last year, so I built it according to the egg boxes I had used for the corn eggs. I will build a larger incubater next season.
This clutch of babies are 66% het pied, that means from a clutch of 4 eggs I should get 1 Pied, 2 Het pied, and 1 Normal. I will keep the Pied(s)
and any females. I will breed the females back to their father, and breed the Pied accordingly, hopefully any Pied(s) will be male(s). I am hoping that 5 th egg will be a second Pied. Of corse these numbers are all just numbers, I know of people who have bred a het to het and got all Pieds and people who have bred a het to a het and got all possibles. You just never know what you are going to get.
