I have actually seen a couple of my boas blow bubbles in their water. Snakes are pretty primitive, but we don't know just how their thought process works. Who knows, it might be like a bored child blowing bubbles in their chocolate milk. Kinda silly, I know, but the fact is, we just don't know what they think sometimes.
And, yes, boas can be breathy. They like to huff and puff sometimes.
