I don't have much experience, but my boa just did everything you said with the water, opening his mouth a lot and the weird sound. It was about 5 days after his eyes were cloudy. He was getting ready to shed. It took much longer than all the books/people say, he finally shed, without issue, today. It took a few weeks, like almost 3. Anyway, I'm sure others know better than me, but I thought id tell you about my experience just in case
