Ceramic Heat Emitters....troublesome?

I'm planning on going to two CHEs hooked up to thermostats in the near future. Has anyone had any trouble places these directly on top of screen lids(w/ lights in proper dome)? Also the way the screen lid is set-up (4- 7.5"x16.5" mesh squares divided by plastic) I'm afraid if I don't go directly on top of the screen, elevating them would melt away the plastic in no time. Anyone have any reviews/tips on CHEs as I've had no prior experience? Thanks!

They will dry the air out pretty quick. Thats the only problem Ive seen. Bp's like belly heat.

I've read that about them. I currently have 1 UTH and will probably go with 2 (hot/cool), as well as using eco earth substrate for the humidity issue. I was just going to use ceramic for the air temp because of the longevity of the bulb. I feel like it would pay for itself rather quickly and was just wondering if there were any serious dangers associated with them.

I use them on a couple of cages. They definitely out perform amy other lightbulb set up by far, humidity is annoying with them though. But I dont think its any worse then any other screen top and lightbulb set up. They do a great job for their purpose, which is to raise the ambient air temp of a cage without adding any light. And ya, they work forever. I have several that are going on over 2 years of use without being replaced. The only thing you really have to check is the junction where the ceramic meets the metal part that screws into the socket. Sometimes that will start to separate over time and and will eventually fail. Ive found the All living Things brand does this much more quickly then any other brand Ive used
