Question First Question - Temperatures problem

    Hey guys,

I've had my Royal (yellow belly) for around 4 months now- totally in love haha.

She's just moved from a small terrarium with heat mat to a full 4ft viv with heat lamp.

She doesn't seem to have a particular problem with the lamp, but I've noticed that while it's 35C at it's hottest point (directly under lamp), but inside her hot hide (also under lamp) it's around 27C - 28C due to the fact that the plastic hide creates shade etc.

Being a Royal, I'm aware that she gets most of her heat through her belly, so the question is as below....

Should I raise the temperature on the thermostat so that her hide gets to 30C (ish) (making the "hot spot" of the viv much higher) or assume that if she wanted to be warmer, she'd move to the hot spot?

I ask 'cause she spends a lotof time in her warm hide...

"Noobish" question I know, but I just want to do right by the snake :-)

    Cheers.
