Thanks very much, any advice on how to stop her striking at me, I've had her a week now and left her to it to settle, but now when I go in with the hook to pick her up she just S's up straight away

Depending on how old she is that might vary if she is a baby it could take some time. Best thing to do is to keep handeling to short and not let it scare you if she/he strikes.

Not sure how old she is but she's 1300g I'm just worried incase she holds on, if she thinks it's feeding time

    Re: Norm or pastel

Just give her a quick but gentle grab with the hook, and when she S's up pick her up anyway. Once you get her off the ground and into your hands feeding mode should shut down pretty darn quick.

Aside from my retics, burms and anacondas, I call everything's bluff and just grab em. If I get bit by a beeper or boa I'm not too concerned lol. And 99% of the time they try to look tough and usually it's just a front.

She kinda looks like the one I just got! Approach her from the side and not from above, slowly, and kinda pet her, then grab her. Works for me. You might just have to swoop in and get her though. They are pretty much all talk, but I wouldn't worry about her holding on even if she does bite.

    Re: Norm or pastel

my little pastel (100g) still gets startled when I reach for her, but once I have her out she relaxes right away. its about confidence, if she is trigger happy and you're afraid of a bite, use gloves to handle her until she gets used to you. she's a big girl, she can handle it

It's a cute bp. If it does bite, you won't barely notice it until after the fact and you see little pin pricks of blood. Have no fear and the snakes won't either. Kinda zen stuff lol.

Haha thank you all for your great advice, just bin out and bought a new viv for her as I didn't like the old 3 ft x 2ft as it was only 1ft tall with a lifting lid, was hard to see her in it, so went and paid 210 pound for a wicked hot viv with everything I need for her including display lights, so I'll post some pics in a bit when iv set it up n handled her lol thanks again guys
