Problem with heat regulation in Boaphile Ball Room Rack

I recently received a Boaphile Ball Room Rack...4 tubs, two rows of heat tape. Unfortunately my ambient room temp needs to be around 70. I use a herpstat and there is a wild swing between the lower rack and the upper rack's hotspots. I have the herpstat at 103 and the lower gets too high at 96 while the upper hotspot doesn't get over 85. I was kinda trying to split the difference for the juvenile females. I am worried of turning it up more for the lower snake's health....but need to get the top drawer's hotspot higher. Any suggestions? insulation? (takes away from the nice look of this rack), UTH on the upper tub?? Thanks for any advice....be gentle this is my first post and I am new at this!!

Sounds like your ambient room temp is not helping your situation, but still, that's a big difference between the upper and lower heat tape output. Before I'd go hanging insulation or pasting on UTHs, I'd probably replace the heat tape and see if that's helps.

Thx for the tip.....I will first use my infrared thermometer and directly compare the heat tape temps on the top and the bottom....before I was just using the tub temps. So I would assume that if the heat tape temps are consistent between top and bottom I won't need to change out the tape...

I would say that if your heat tape is a consistent temp from top to bottom, your problem is with something else in the set up. Look to see if each tub is set up exactly the same way.
