where do you get your f/t rats?

So, since you guys suggested I switch to rats, I was wondering where you get your rats. My local pet store only stocks f/t mice and I really want to move my bps over to rats.

    Thanks

You can buy rats from local reptile shows, look for feeders on Craigslist or online which will need to be bought bulk to make it worth the high shipping cost.

I get mine from my basement

MiceDirect.com for bulk frozen feeders, though my local live supplier just started offering frozen 10-packs for the same price so I'll be buying those from him also.

I found a local breeder on craigslist as well as another on a local facebook reptile group I belong to. So far it has been working out great for me.

    My garage

You can order bulk online, though, that can prove to be too expensive to be worth it for just one snake.
I would check craigslist as there are a lot of people who breed too many and try to sell the extras.

Also, I'm part a facebook group that has quite a few feeder breeders near me, maybe look for a local group on facebook.

Does your local store happen to sell rats live? You may be able to ask them to euthanize the rats for you so you can put them in the freezer, my local pet store will do that depending on who's in the back that day.

Big Cheese. Since switching mine to Rats about a month ago, I ordered 15 small rats from big cheese. It ended up being about $2.50 a rat vs. $4-$5 per at the petstore.

Re: where do you get your f/t rats?

It depends on where you live. I live in California and layne labs is the only place that's near by. They have very clean feeders.
