I haven't heard of a snake having a problem like yours before. The whole not using part of its body thing. Do you think it might have not been the shipping and they sent you a problematic snake hoping it would have been ok? You did mention that the heat pack was still warm when it arrived so it could have had proper warmth during shipping.

Run around always sucks. I have felt with it for reptiles but
I have had warranty companies try to do that to me. Their hopes is you just give up so they don't have to pay up.

I hadn't thought of that, though as crappy as the situation is, I don't think they'd be so wrong as to send me a snake with a preexisting condition, at least I HOPE not

My boyfriend actually had a snake he adopted do this. It was a very young snake, and he just stopped using the second half of his body out of nowhere. My boyfriend checked everything - temperature, humidity, hide size, I mean literally everything, but nothing changed. He tried exercising the little guy by taking him out, but the snake would only use the first half of his body to move around the floor. It was like those muscles had just ceased to exist. Soon after the snake stopped eating and then passed away. =/ We even took him to a vet, who didn't even seem to notice the problem, telling us the snake was just young and needed exercise (which we thought was ludicrous). I can only imagine that it was some sort of neurological issue that my bf was unaware of when he adopted the snake, just like this snake seems to have had a neurological issue.

OP: I'm sorry about what you had to go through. =[ That should never have happened, and the customer service ABSOLUTELY should have been better.

That's exactly what she was doing. She would almost throw her head around when I was holding her and the had use of the tip of her tail but mid body to spurs she had 0 movement. This morning she was just layer sideways in the enclosure and that's when I said it's not fair to let it suffer anymore

Makes me so sad =[ My bf's little one did the head drop thing too. It was almost like he couldn't control his head? Or maybe just couldn't support it. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that and I'm sorry she did too. =[ But at least she is out of her misery and can rest in peace. Hopefully something like that doesn't happen to you ever again. =[ I know from experience that it's unpleasant and beyond devastating. My bf was positive he'd done something wrong, but no matter how hard we looked, there was nothing we could find that had been out of place with his husbandry. So it must have been something neurological or genetic, or some kind of disease that we knew nothing about and our vet didn't recognize.

Im sorry that you had a horrible first experience. You shouldn't have to accept that lesser if you don't want her. Will they not refund you?

Assuming the snake was fine before shipping, overheating can cause neuro problems. Was the box shipped with extra or larger heat packs to try to compensate for the cooler weather? If so, it shouldn't have been done like that. And if the snake was like that before shipping, yikes.

And the poor treatment of any customer is a black mark in my book.

    Sorry to read this.

Please do not let it deter you from online ordering. The overwhelming majority of these transactions go very well.

There is a ton of conjecture here as to what exactly could have caused this, but really it kinda does not matter. It is the end result of poor customer service and a sick (now deceased animal) that needs the more immediate attention.

I agree that if you just want a refund, that is what you should get. I assume there is at least a partial refund coming with the less expensive snake?

Good on you ColdBloodedAddict for stepping up to the plate!

Not even a mention of a partial refund for the Lesser on their part which is cheaper in price than the Mystic.

The heat pack was warm (body temp warm) and was quite small and there was only one. It was not taped to the box insulation, it was just inside the box on the opposite side of where the snake was.

I feel like the snake was shipped like that. Poor quality control. It was probably the last mystic avaliable like you said and for a reason. I would just demand a refund instead of the lesser if you are not happy and if they do not refund you call your credit card company.
