    feeding during shed

I'm pretty sure from what I've read that my bp is about to shed. This will be the first since ive had him but his eyes are definately blue and he hasn't come out of his hide for a couple days....I was going to try to feed him Tuesday, but should I wait until he sheds and then feed him? Or will they eat even when they're about to shed?

    Re: feeding during shed

It depends on the snake. I have some that feed during their shed cycle and some that dont....

You can always offer. After a few shed cycles you'll start to know what works best for your BP.

The only way to know is to try.

I feed the same day every week (shed or no shed) the majority of my animals will eat, a few do not and I have learned to skip those.

It really does depend on the snake. Our male king snake is a fat little piggy and would eat every day, I think, if we let him. Shedding means absolutely nothing to his feeding schedule.

Nigel and our female king snake are both shy eaters--we tried them once or twice during shed and they were having none of it. So we don't even bother with them anymore.

I'm a new snake owner too and my girl just went through her first shed with me. I went ahead and offered her food on her normal feeding day and she gobbled it up, so I would at least offer.

Ok thanks for the info everyone! I'll try to feed him and see how it goes, this will be my first time feeding him too, I just got him last week! But I'm excited to see how it goes!
