    The wood won't catch fire at the temps involved with heat tape. But I would seal all that wood with a water based paint/sealer. Plywood has all kinds of chemicals in the glue used to bond the plies together, which could be harmful to your snakes. Also, humidity might be a problem (warping your rack), but a good sealer will fix this. Good luck, I just built my first rack a month ago.
