feeding a very small b.p.

What is the best diet for a small b.p? Can it eat a small mouse? I got the snake today, and on the way home, in the car, she was not at all shy or scared. THen I put her in her tank, and she got scared and "balled" up!

They will take a little while to get used to being handled. Put it in its tank and make sure you got everything set up before you put it in. Check the temps and humidity. And leave it be as much as possible only open up the enclosure to change water which should be every day. What kind of tank do you have it in.

They can eat prey as big around as the widest part of their body. Generally a baby ball will eat a fuzzy mouse.

Just make sure you don't try feeding something that's too large. I'd say that if your BP is a hatchling, a fuzzy baby mouse would be a great starter. Anything bigger or fatter will probably be looked at as a threat by a small, skittish hatchling.

How small is your bp? Some of the babies I saw at a reptile show yesterday looked like they were more apt to taking a pinky. The easiest way to select prey sized for your snake, throughout its whole life, is simply to compare the girth of your bp at its largest point, and compare it to the girth of the prey item. If your snakes girth is greater than or equal to that of the rodent, you're good to go!

I wouldn't feed him a pinky, they are no source of what he needs (they are ALL fat). He could definately take a fuzzy mouse (regular-sized ball pythons right out of the egg can take adult mice or rat pups) so that's what I would try.
