Are platinum retics considered a dwarf??
Hi,
In the past I've owned a kayuadi retic and a dwarf tiger. When I got them, they were both only a couple of months old. The dwarf tiger was considerably larger than the kayuadi (about as thin as a number 2 pencil).
This past weekend, I saw a few young platinum retics for sale at multiple vendor tables. What struck me was that were just slightly larger than the Kayuadi retic I had. Hence my question, are platinum retics considered a dwarf?
I'm considering the platty because their colors are simply amazing, relative to the muted/dull colors of the Kayuadi retics.

No. The platinum morph is simply a color mutation, and one that originated in "mainland" snakes at that. There are definitely dwarf-cross platinum retics out there that will stay on the smaller side, but simply being of the platinum color morph will not predict for adult size.

Messaged you back on this matter. Platinum is associated with Mainland. Though it has been crossed into Dwarf and Super Dwarf blood lines. They will always hold some percent of mainland in them. The highest % SD Platinum's I've seen are around 87.5% and in Europe. In the states 75% is about the going % for higher end super dwarfs. If you're ok with a male, most mainland retic males stay at or around the 8-11' mark. But some have gone past the 15' mark, and many can be a handful during breeding modes.

Retics are my passion. Just ask.
