Ideal humidity probe location in T8?

Where is the ideal location for the humidity probe in a T8? It's a herpstat probe.

My spray is coming from two mistkings heads slightly to the right of the back center of the enclosure, and normally I just have it sitting face up on the substrate a few inches behind where it sprays down.

But one of my girls keeps moving the probe and turning it over, which causes it to lower its reported rh and causes the mister to work more than needed.

2 questions:

1. Where is the best location for the probe?

2. How would you recommend securing it there? I'll need to be able to remove it or cover it effectively for cleaning.

I would have it suspended either from the back wall or the top of the cage. I would drill small hole just big enough to pass the cord through from the inside of the cage then use hot glue to secure the probe. I would do this by hanging the probe where I wanted it then filling the hole drilled in the cage with hot glue.

Thank you. So it should be more or less floating above everything? I guess I sort of put it on ground level because I wanted the reading to be accurate to where my BP more or less spends its time.

The humidity level in the cage should be at least somewhat consistent throughout the cage. Getting the probe up and out of the way has more benefits to me than reading slightly more accurately.

T8's are pretty good at holding humidity without the need of misters, do you have a water dish?

I keep my probe right in the center of the cage close to the fluorescent light. I just run the cable through the same hole. As for securing it there, mine just hangs out about 1/4 down into the cage that way if a snake does hit it, the probe will just move out of the way.
