    A lot of people suggest getting females incase you decide to breed in the future. If you are just looking for a pet, I suggest a male. They tend to not get as large, they are less expensive, and since females are more valued in this hobby (for breeding purposes) there are lots of males that need homes too!
    I got my male pinstripe as a hatchling about 2 months old for $80 at a show. I love going to shows, because there are so many to choose from and sometimes you change your mind that can be good or bad!
