Fire and vanilla

I've been looking around for some info but haven't had much luck finding any good answers. I'm looking into some pairings involving both as offspring. I don't have any experience with the vanilla gene but is there a way to tell the two apart? I've steered clear of pairings involving the possibility of two morph offspring that have subtle differences. I'm terrible at identifying any of the normal looking morphs.

I haven't gotten into the Vanilla gene yet, but last season I bred a Fire male to a couple of females. It was very obvious which snakes in each clutch were Fires. Telling Fires apart from Vanilla s would be difficult. I think you could contact Chris McQuade last Gulf Coast Reptiles. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to Vanillas.

Ive seen several well known breeders post babies for sale that they weren't sure if they were fires or vanillas. So id say its pretty hard to tell

We did Vanilla x Fire in 2013. Some of the babies were obviously Fires, some were obviously Vanillas, and a few we had to wait to let them shed a few times to be able to tell for sure. So there isn't a really straightforward answer here....you might be able to tell and you might not. There isn't really a "way" to tell for sure, you just have to have some experience looking at them. I realize that isn't the most helpful answer, but that is my experience.
