Need help with my first tub Setup

I am buying a BP from ballpythonbreeder.com and I am trying to setup the tub. I am using a 12qt sterilite with a flukers UTH controlled by a Rancor thermostat. I am trying to get the temps inside the tub right but I am getting 3 very different readings and am not sure what to do.

On the hotside inside the hide I get a reading of 96 from the Rancor Probe (I know this is supposed to go outside the tub attached to the uth but I just wanted to get another reading), 95-110 from a zoomed reptitemp depending on where its pointed and 101 from a zoomed analog thermometer.

I have about 1 1/4" of shaving substrate in there. I'm not sure what temp to go buy. Clearly on the hotside from a couple of the readings IF those are the accurate ones. Any suggestions?

Actually they're all fairly between 96-100. I would say its on the hot side just turn your thermostat down a few degrees.

Turn the thermostat down a few and then take temp with 3 different thermometers and take the average of the 3 and go by that. I suggest buying a heat gun.

I would go ahead and mount the probe on the outside, between the heater and tub, and reduce the thickness of your substrate to about 1/2 an inch. That should let the heat dissipate better, and not build up under the substrate. I would suggest a temp gun, instead of a heat gun.

Is the zoomed reptitemp not considered a temp gun. I thought they took temps the same way? I could very well be wrong.

The probe will be mounted to the UTH outside the tub. I only had it inside to get a temp reading for a comparison to my other thermos.

Yes it is a temp gun, you're good.
