New female (mites included; some dissasembly required)

No way this camera can work the macro magic needed to focus on these lil specks of critters - but gives an idea how small them mites are:

Here's our byoootiful guhl in the midst of moite treatment. (/australian off)

    DOH! dinnertime - more later.

    My new girl!

I had ticks with my snakes awhile back. The biggest ones were about four times the size of that mite! I still remember how disgusting that big tick looked in the glass of water, and how it still moved around about ten minutes after my boyfriend removed it. Ack.
I used Zoomed's tick.mite spray and it killed off all the damned little things. Oh how I hate ticks and mites!

    AHOY MITES!

plz get teh hell outta my snakes eyz0rz k thxbye

Has anyone had any experience dealing with eradication of mites impacted around a snakes eyes? She will submerge her head completely foar a couple of minutes but thats not enough for the degree to which she has them buried under the rims of her eyes. The reptile relief says not to spray into face/eyes. I would imagine any product effective enough to kill would carry the same warning - but this is the only one I can get my hands on locally. If anyone HAS found or used such a product please let me know so I don't order online and wind up getting something I can't use in that area. I've also read of the Nix and Scope methods and they are looming on the horizon.

It drives me nuts because although a new addition she (Sesha) is hands-down the sweetest snake I've met and she's done an aoutstanding job of acclimating, switching to f/t and putting up with the course of the eradication.

    All help/advice appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

OK, I have used mineral oil to coat the snake in the eye area, it suffucates the mite... but takes several treatments. Had to do this at a pet shop I worked for who was too cheap to buy mite killer.

Many of the big breeders swear by Black Knight, but it can be hard to find. Seems like ProExotics used to carry it, but I can't find it on their website.

Re: ballpython yahoo group is too cool for me

    Black Knight has been pulled
Some piss-ant up on the east coast has a suit against them and they`ll not be selling any product until its resolved. I was told by sales dept. it wouldnt happen before Aug.04 so Provent is the only option for now.

You dont have to(but you can) spray that stuff directly into their eyes, just soak a Qtip and paint as close to the eye as you can get.Getting that stuff in their vents might be a bad buzz

How about prevent-a-mite? I heard that it works good.
