She prefers the cool side of the habitat?

So I am noticing some strange personality traits in my little girl, who is named Nayo. First she completely rejected the hide on the cool side of her hab so I removed it. She seemed much happier. There is some artificial foliage in there so hiding isn't a problem. Now though, I notice that she doesn't seem to even want the warm side. There is a hide there and foliage but she only spends about %10 - %15 of her time there. I mist the entire thing everyday because its glass, the ambient temp of the area is 80-85. She doesn't seem stressed as she is calm and breathing gently. She eagerly allows us to handle her. She actually seems to enjoy being stroked gently. Don't get me wrong she does indeed use her warm side hide but she hangs out in the foliage on the cool side, or sometimes in her water. Any thoughts?

LOL... Mine also didn't like her foliage standing upright. I have some aquarium plants in there and she just disapproved. So she knocked them over and now hides in them.

Something might be off with your temps. Do you have a temp gun to check and make sure your thermometer isn't on the fritz? She probably uses the hot side when you're not looking, but to be safe you should check your temps.

Re: She prefers the cool side of the habitat?

I was gonna post this same thread. The last few days mine has preferred the cool side hide that is at about 75-76. But I guess if he was cold he knows where the warm side is

Grrrr... My temp gun was stolen. BTW... If anyone ever is curious those IR thermometers are the same thing as what is used for R\C purposes.
She does use the warm side. Most probably you are right, while we are asleep or what not. I am totally broke atm otherwise I would just replace all of the heating. I am getting a new in-tank digital themometer this weekend.

Re: She prefers the cool side of the habitat?

Well as long as she is still active and displaying no other symptoms I'd say don't worry about it. Snakes can be very weird occasionally. I have one snake that used hides for years, and now she'll have nothing to do with them. I have to put a couple of paper towels in her cage for her to hide under because she shuns any hide I try to put in her cage. They can just be persnickety sometimes.
