Thoughts on bedding mixes & reptifogger issue
For my BP Frost, he currently lives in a 40 gal breeder tank with half the top covered with a towel. I use a reptifogger to keep his humidity up (except for recently it has become VERY loud when it turns on, replacing the fan hasn't fixed it, so I've turned it off for now.) I was wondering what some more experienced people's opinions on mixing bedding is. I use reptibark right now, but I am thinking about mixing in zilla jungle mix bedding with the reptibark to keep his humidity up (spraying the cage doesn't work, I tried it for weeks before I got the fogger). Will mixing the jungle mix in cause any problems with his UTH (moisture vs hot glass is bad I've heard)? In addition to the UTH under his favorite hideout, I have a CHE on the "cool" side of his tank since my bedroom air temp is too cold for him, so I'm not worried about him getting too cold. Also, would it stay too wet & give him an RI or scale rot? Or would he like it more? This is only if I get rid of the fogger. I can't get the damn thing to stop rattling around when it turns on, squeezing the housing makes it shut up, but I duck tape doesn't hold it in place so it rattles as soon as I let go again.

I'm not certain what Jungle mix is, but Cypress Mulch or Coco husk (coir) works really well to retain humidity.
I'd try one of those out.

Re: Thoughts on bedding mixes & reptifogger issue
The jungle mix is this black soil stuff that holds a ton of moisture (the bag in the store had dew on the inside of the bag even). & when it worked, the fogger worked great for humidity. I have it on a timer, 15 mins on for every hour & 30 mins on 4 times a day. The fog control works great for adjusting how much you need depending on the humidity in your house, definitely in winter.

OH! Forgot to mention, I needed the fogger in the first place because without it, the humidity in his tank was always 20% or less.

Ok, a couple suggestions. First and foremost, cover all the screen except where any fixtures go through with foil or plex or something. A towel really doesn't help much except as insulation over the foil. As long as you have so much open screen you will fight humidity no matter what substrate you use. And yes, it will get plenty of air. Second, that bark by itself sux for holding humidity anyway, but you should be fine add the jungle mix. Can't really help with the reptifogger as I've never had one. If you go to replace it, just get a regular ultrasonic humidifier from Walmart or somewhere and use that. You will have to modify the output, but it's not hard to do, heck you might be able to use the hose from the old fogger.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
Never argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with their experience.
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

I personally loved jungle mix most of all the loose substrates I used. It held humidity great. I would first try adding that before getting the fogger up and running.
