    What would you get?

I am picking up a lemon blast female, a killer bee female, and a bumblebee female at the NARBC in Feb. Already paid for them, the guy is just going to be in town then so I get to save on shipping. Now I have a thousand dollar budget for the show in addition to those females I'm picking up. My only problem? I can't decide what to get. Originally I thought about getting something I'd like to mix with those females, but now I'm not so sure. I'm thinking of expanding my pied breeding lines instead. Or should I get a nice Clown male to mix with those girls? I'm not particularly fond of Clowns themselves. Don't find them extremely attractive, but I do like many of the Clown combos (especially the enchi clown), so I was thinking of a clown male and see if I can get lucky and pick up a pastel het clown female as well for my money. Is that realistic? Or should I shoot for Lightning Pieds by trying to get two Axanthic het pied females? What are my odds on even being able to find any? I'm having trouble pricing them. Looking to get the biggest bang for my buck. I'd prefer the Axanthic het pieds because I'm a big fan of Axanthic combos. Axanthic Killerbee is definitely on my list to breed!

I am really wanting an Enchi Sugar male to go with the females I already have, but I haven't found any I like in the grand price range. Most of the ones around a thousand seem very dirty to me. If I can't have the real high white on them I'd rather pass, unless I can find someone willing to let me get the snake at the show sale price and then continue to make payments on them until I'm paid off and then get them shipped. Last year I made some good deals with breeders there and ended up putting about 50% down and then was able to take the animals home while I finished paying them off over the next 60 days. Of course these guys were local (and local in Texas means anything within 300 miles) breeders and only cut me that deal because I'd purchased from them on payment plans before. Sadly, these guys do not breed Clowns, Axanthics, or Sugars.

Also, I've been looking here, Fauna, and Kingsnake for the past few weeks and can't seem to price any Axanthic het pied females. Plenty of Axanthics, but none that are het for pied. Or at least not 100% het for pied. Found some possibles, but not interested in that. I did find one male Axanthic het for pied, but I want females, and then next year I'll get a pied male 100% het axanthic.

    Any thoughts?

How large are the girls your planning on taking a male to? Hold out on the male and time it correctly so he will be up to size when they are. No sense in buying a clown male now at $700-1000 if your girls won't be ready until next year. You can hold out till May and that $1000 will go further.

    Re: What would you get?

One of the Bumblebees I'm picking up will be ready next year, and almost all of the females I already have. If I got the clown I was thinking of pairing him with some of the females I already have. That or the Sugar Enchi.

    Re: What would you get?

I'm really leaning toward the Axanthic het pied females, but I can't seem to find any for sale online to price them.

Can't go wrong with Axanthic stuff. But its gonna be difficult finding homozogous hets.

Where have you seen a clown male for a few hundred? I've never seen one listed for that low.

    Re: What would you get?

Yea at the last expo a couple months ago I saw clown males for $450. They weren't ugly or anything either, they were pretty nice looking.
