Those are seriously beautiful. Do they always have that amazing gold color on them? Because if not, you may have a potential future line breeding project ready to set up.
From what I have seen, yes. I know they're typically variable a bit, from lighter golden to a bit darker brown.....I was told by Mr. Lazik that some he had even had a red tint to them! Boy would I have LOVED to see those!

I have a pair as well! They are amazing! My male is the most friendly and curious snake I own - even more so than my colubrids or boas! He comes out to say HI every time I open his tub. Mine are also 2012's.

I've kind of been pricing them out lately, and have noticed that while there are a few available here and there, it's only males. Whats up with that? Are breeders hoarding them?

Females are hard to find because they are usually sold quickly. And sometimes breeders will only sell a female as part of a pair. I don't know if that means Angolans in general tend to have male-heavy ratios in their clutches or if breeders tend to hold more females back, but it's true that females can be hard to come across.

When I was looking 2 years ago, there was ONE breeder at Tinley Park who had babies - but you could only buy a female if you bought a pair. There were several other breeders who had one or two available, but they were all males.

I bought my pair from Chad Duggin once we returned from Tinley. Even he was only selling a female in a pair, but I was happy to make that purchase from him - his reputation is stellar and this particular pair's background is special.

Chad Duggin? Does he have a web site?

    -----------------------------

Never mind, I found it. http://www.cdreptiles.com

He only has three males available according to his website.

I've wanted a pair of Angolans for years now. And yours are gorgeous!!!

I guess I will just have to start saving up for a pair. And a female Volta locality...if I can ever find anyone willing to let one go. lol.

They are by far the MOST inquisitive, and curious snakes I've ever kept. Very 'busy', always seem like they're on a mission of sorts, or that they have somewhere to be, lol. Plus, the feeling of their scales while handling them is just SO awesome.
