    Pine board snake rack?

I'm going to make a new snake rack and wanted to know if making it out of pine shelving board would hurt the snakes? Thanks

    Yes.

Any wood is potentially harmful to snakes. Especially if said wood is dropped on the snake from a great height.

    Re: Pine board snake rack?

    Ahem.

Certain woods are harmful to the respiratory system of ball pythons. Do a quick google search.

One issue you will run into is that untreated wood will absorb a lot of the moisture if you plan on having open tubs flush against the wood. Seal it if this is the design you are looking for. If you will have plastic tops on the tubs, disregard this point.

just make sure you seal the wood something like paint or Polly, to avoid the wood rotting from getting wet. your snakes are in bins on the rack im assuming, so they shouldn't be coming in contact with the wood anyway.
