    Zoo med heat pad questions

I just got two zoo med UTH off of a buddy of mine for my 25 gallon tank and i was wondering if i should use both? One is a 4x7 and the other is 6x8. Also the 6x8 pad doesnt have any adhesive material left on it. Any suggestions of how secure to bottom of glass? I was thinking foil tape?

Also what is the best way to keep the humidity at a constant level without effecting breathing air?

all help is appreciated thanks in advance!

I would use the 6x8 (with some kind of thermostat of course) and electrical tape to stick it to the underside of the tank. It sometimes takes a lot of tape, but it works fine. I have never used foil tape specifically for that, so I can't comment there.

Humidity can be trickier depending on your location, cypress and coco coir both work well, is it a screen top tank?

    Welcome to the forum BTW!

Yes i have a thermometer as well as a hygrometer. The electrical tape sounds like a good idea ill give it a try! Yes i have a screen top and i live in ontario canada so the weather doesnt help much lol. And is cypress and coco coir some kind of moss ball?
    Thanks alot!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Besides the thermometer, you need a thermostat probe controlling the UTH so it doesn't burn your snake. Personally I'd use foil tape if the heat pad doesn't have any adhesive. It sticks better than electrical tape and is meant to deal with heat.

Here's a link on how to properly set up a glass terrarium:

    Hope this helps.

Also, I use coco husk for bedding which keeps humidity up pretty well.

(Forgot to add this in my original post)

Okay thanks for the advice! Was wondering if i should put the probe for the hygrometer at the top inside the tank? It has those rubber things you lick that stick it to glass lol
