    Snake Room Heating Question

Alright guys so I haven't quite even got my first snake but i'm doing a ton of research until I do so that I'm ready when the time comes. I plan to eventually have a collection, that being said when I do get my second and third snake I want to build a small rack system and keep them in my "man cave" which is essentially my third bedroom/office that I use for my computer room. I'm curious how warm the inside of their tubs will be on the cool side if I keep my house at my normal temperature. My house is usually kept around 70 year round. I live in Texas and hate the heat, bad place for me I know. My question is that if I have my heat tape set appropriately, should the rest of the tubs maintain the right temperature in my room or am I going to have to shut my AC vent and let it warm up a bit more and suffer while I'm on my computer (which is often).

I am also in Tx and keep my place 68. I also keep many of my snakes in my man room with my entertainment stuff. I had to close off my vent and add a oil heater to the room to keep my temps right. I usually have the heater set to 76-77 and my ambient temps in my rack stay around 78-80. My rack is a open side style so I bet if the sides were covered it would stay a bit warmer.

I found it much easier to heat the room than try to get each cage and rack to the right temp with just rhp and uth. I now only use my rhp on cold winter nights.

I'm in Texas as well. I just keep a heater on in the room during the night. During the day I turn the heater off and open the blinds and that keeps it pretty normal. The weather here is crazy right now.. but the outside temp during the day seems to heat the room fine... night time gets cold so I use the heater.

Spencer, Do you not have a tstat on the heater? Mine has a built in digital tstat and timer function. This makes it automatic and I never have to mess with it. It even has a remote. I got it at Lowes. I think it was about $70.

You guys rock! Thanks for the insight. Not to be too nosey but where abouts are you guys in general. Texas is sort of big so weather tends to be drastically different from one end of Texas to the next. I'm about 40 minutes south west of Waco. KMG how warm does that make the whole room? I might end up having to do something like that and just have a personal fan on my computer desk so I don't sweat my balls off.
