I have no idea about yellow bellies as I don't work with the gene but with fires the red pupils are only present in the supers. It doesn't have anything to do with the flash, lighting or camera angle other than it's hard to get a picture of without good zoom or macro skills. If you're holding a super fire and look at it's eye you see a deep, blood red pupil on a field of black - wild, curious stuff.
