I can't speak for any other states, but thanks to a certain assembly bill, that's pretty much the punishment drug dealers in this state get. I dealt with a drug dealer next door for a year, complete with police raids, and the worst they got was a night in the county jail. Then they skipped court (were already on probation for possession, identity theft, and more) and last I checked had a warrant for their arrest. Good luck finding them. But since our prisons are over crowded, the state government decided it was better to release those criminals (and worse). That pretty much allows them to continue with their illicit activities unhindered.
