Where do you get your feeders from?
Right now I get mine from the local herp shop (it's awesome) The Aquatic Critter in Nashville, TN
they get them through Rodent Pro.
Thing is, I'll be moving back to Chicago/Wheaton Illinois area soon and I'm trying to decide if I should stock up for summer down here and bring them the 8hr car trip in a cooler or if I'll be able to find a place when I'm home.
I'm just curious to hear about all the various places I can purchase frozen rats and mice in case I ever need to or in case any of you knows a great deal!

Sonoran Desert Sidewinder giving birth!
I buy mine in frozen bulk from Big Cheese Rodents. If I need live, I buy it from my work (a reptile center).

I highly endorse rodentpro myself. And, if you are switched now to rats, you can order them in smaller amounts. If you do decide to stock up & make the 8 hour trip, it might be a good idea to get a hunk of dry ice to keep them cool cuz dry ice does not melt nearly as fast. This way there is less chance of losing the necessary temps AND far less change of the rats gettin wet!
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

Pet shops here and there. Gerbils are a tough find. I love it when they refuse to sell them to me as feeders, so I lie and say it's my cute little pet. I laugh on the way out.

I breed my own. I have a bunch of frozen rat pups in my freezer, and they were all free to me. I only have to pay for the parent rats' bedding and food, which is dirt cheap in this rural area. "Grow your own!"

Dan gets his gerbils from a local pet store that has no problems selling them to him, not quite sure if they realize they are feeders but one would get the idea since he goes in once a week. I get my crickets from a local exotic pet store.

PetCo also sells frozen rats, but here its 3.29 for a medium and even more for a large. So I just buy em live from the local pet shop and whack em myself. Now and then they don't have feeders of the right size so i hand pick the ones i want from the pet section!

I get my feeders from the same place where i got both my ball pythons. Pet Stuff in San Antonio, Texas. They offer everthing from mice to rabbits. They sell for a great price mice are a dollar and small rats are $1.10 its not too bad. They also euthenize thier own feeders and have those avaliable as frozen. They have a huge breeding room and every thing is avaliable all the time. Sometimes i go to a place like petco or pet land and they dont have any pinkys or fuzzies.
Thanks,
Damien
