Black Milk Snakes have Finally arrived - amidst an ice storm.....

So they are finally here! They had quite a trip up to Michigan from St Petersburg, FL though. Everything looked fine for shipping right up until 6pm yesterday evening. The seller dropped them off at his FedEx office and all was good. Then 3 hours later, ice began falling here in MI and all across the Midwest. WTH?? Checked tracking this morning and they hadn't made it to Flint yet although they were listed as having left the hub in TN. So my hubby showed up at our FedEx office at 9am and was told the truck had been delayed in Flint due to the ice but they should be here by 11. Hubby couldn't get back to the office until after his appointments for the day, but when he retuned at 2pm, they were there safe and sound - and no worse for wear.

These kids came from Doug Margason. They are both 2012 females and are from Kevin Maxwell and San Antonio Zoo stock. They are perfect in every way and BIG and DARK. Doug was GREAT to work with and these guys were packaged perfectly. I am sure that is why they had no trouble making it through the snow and ice. The box was still warm inside when hubby opened it up. Thank you for everything Doug!!

I love watching octogenic snakes change. The colour shift in these guys is especially appealing.
    Congrats.

Actually, the 2nd one pictured did not survive. I was pretty shaken and that's why I didn't post anything further. She died less than 12 hours after arriving. I believe it was due to the packaging. They were packed well except for one thing. There was only a layer of paper between their deli cups and the heat pack. The heat pack was directly over this one's cup, so I think she overheated. The other one is perfectly fine. No ill effects and eats like a PIG.

The seller was very good about everything and made it right, so I can't complain too loudly. It was just a tragic mistake.

But I am thankful to have one very nice, healthy and happy girl!

AND I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a 2011 male!! A friend of mine downstate found him and picked him up for me. He is currently residing with him until we can meet up. So you are the first to meet Floyd....

Yeah it was a shame to hear about the poor packaging job :-/ but I was glad to hear they made things good. Grats on the local pick up though :-)

Yes, he was quite considerate about everything. So it worked out ok. I would, of course, rather have the snake, but I can't complain about how the seller handled it. He was very professional.

And thanks! This fellow is 4ft long and eating f/t like no tomorrow! Can't wait til I actually have him in hand!
