Lol but really, if you guys tell me how to do it, I'm sure I could figure it out. I'm not a "techy" person by choice. If it's something worth it to me or something I give a crap about tho I'll actually make an effort to understand lol

roms are custom operating systems, its not difficult if you have to know how (well depending on the phone), but it can be tedious, roms can be buggy, and sometimes you can mess it up so bad, your phone is toast. It's normally reserved for the people who really like playing with that kind of stuff. You can still download launchers and custom lock screens and drawers that basically change the entire part you interact with, without going through flashing roms (roms can however do much more). I do flash roms at times, but currently I am actually running oem os, reliability trumps everything else, not there isn't reliable roms out there, but still. My droid x2 I saw a huge boost in performance running a rom so it was silly not to use it, but with the gs3 I haven't had anything overly impress me, but I haven't flashed over anything in quite a few months now, been busy and quite happy with the phone now, but sometimes I just get the itch to play with it.

But if you get bored of your phone or theres something you might not like, launchers are my suggestion for a first step, there are many to choose from all with different features and what not. For example here is my setup: nova prime launcher, it allows me to swipe up to bring up my dock and i can swipe down for notifications. I use one home screen full of everything I could want to see at a glance, nova also allows me to stack widgets and also change their size, so I can position much more on one screen. I also have an app to get rid of the lock screen, I hate lock screens. everything I use is on the home screen, on the dock, or in a folder on the dock. Then I started using loopr for quick multitasking, it allows me to hold my finger in a certain spot and it brings up all my active windows so I can quickly change between apps.

My screen turns on this is what I see

dock with folders, the headphone icon is my media folder

Stock notification, but song control from notification bar are always nice. normally I have auto brightness off since I think it sucks on android lol.

My phone doesn't resembles an out of the box phone, but still oem OS, the power of customization, enjoy it sir. You might even be able to make your phone look like a replica of iOS.
