There are lots of directions to go and if you're trying to make light or reduced combos then buy a light Pastel. If you're trying for darker combos wouldn't you want to cross it into darker Pastels?

    Just food for thought...
No. I disagree, personally. Pastels are suppose to be yellow. That is the trait they are best known for. Otherwise, why use it, if not for the yellow coloration?
A dark pastel for darker combos is not good either in my opinion.
A dark morph is not just dark, imo. Its combination of contrast between the colors. Contrast. For example a mojave.
It can be dark black with yellow markings. That contrast is what makes it attractive compared to a black mojave with muddy brown markings, imo. A black pastel that is black with high contrast orange markings is more desirable than one with dull brown(little to no contrast between the markings and body color).

And when that pastel is combined with the mojave for a pastave, you want that yellow to still pop. The yellow highly contrasts with the darkness of a mojave. Same goes for black pastels and cinnamon.
So I think using a bright pastel or high contrast dark morphs is important, no matter what.
