I just saw this thread. I have two rosy boas!
I got them last year when they were just days old, from a coworker who was given a pregnant snake. Their mom is a Mexican, their dad a coastal (don't know which locality). The two snakes I have look different from each other, one more brown and the other more red. They are very lovely snakes, I absolutely love them.

I actually don't do too much for them in terms of heating, but that's because I live in their natural range. In the summer time the room they live in stays hot enough to keep them happy. Last winter I kept heat on them just because they were so small and growing. This winter I'm watching temperatures to see what happens. So far I have not had a need to put heat on them, and they've still be active and feeding. It's been a weird winter, with quite a few warm days and very little rain. They are big enough they could brumate if it gets cool enough.

Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.
