I'm hoping this forum is for other snakes as well?

I'm 22 years old and I live with my husband and our large animal family. I'm hoping this forum is for more than just ball pythons... I do not have a ball python and I am 95% sure that I never will. I currently have a male Western Hognose snake named Lithir. He was and is my first snake. I'm planning on getting a jungle carpet python soon.

Our animal family other than Lithir:

22 mice (I do not include mice that have not "earned" names.. I give names to mice who "earn" it by being tame, healthy, or have an outstanding body form and thus earn a spot as either a permanent pet or a breeder/pet. Either way, mice with names will never be culled.)

Females: Mithe, Myrre, Aylithe, Ffion, Vena, Meriel, Blackberry, Blueberry, Strawberry, Honeydew, Kristell, Triona, Aeira, Nemo, Shamala, Zaimu, and Elsa.

Males: Avicii, Kenichi, Reeses, Rolo and Hazel.

I absolutely adore my mice. Currently I don't have any good breeding mice, so I'm just breeding some pet store mice. My goal is to get better body form, health, males that will live with other males. I'm hopefully very soon going to get some show quality mice to breed.

5 cats. Akassa and Mallory are two cats that I adopted off of craigslist together. They are declawed (done by their previous owner) and are indoor only cats. Soren is my newest addition. We got him at the Repticon in November rather than getting a carpet python. He is a bobcat hybrid.
Kaden and Leyna are son and mother; they are outdoor only cats who are shared by my parents (who live down the hill from us).

2 Dogs. We have Mocha, who is a male 9 year old chihuahua who I have had since he was a puppy. We got Mocha for free because the people who owned his parents didn't know they had a female and a male dog.. I'm not really sure how that happened, but that's what they said. We also have Ruuqo, who is an 8 month old Alaskan Malamute.. We've had him since he was 6 weeks old.

5 Gerbils (I do not include any babies that I am not keeping). My gerbils are: Ivy (female.. mate to Paku), Paku (male.. Mate to Ivy), Amek (male, brother to Amarte and Aithek), Amarte (male), and Aithek (male). I am an American Gerbil Society registered breeder. I breed for health and color.

2 Rats. Raiko (neutered male.. Brother to Raimei) and Raimei (female).

4 Degus. Keeka and Kipcha (females). Khuno and Kuzco (males).

2 Syrian Hamsters. Akka (female) and Appa (male).

That is it for my animal family...
Other interesting things about me is I spend most of my time researching animals. I have adored all animals since I was born.
I love to read. I'm a huge fan of Warriors by Erin Hunter and The Wolf Chronicles by Dorothy Hearst. I'm also a fan of various other animal-related books.

I play Mabinogi, an MMORPG game that is based on Celtic Mythology and has an "anime style" character design. I met my husband on this game. I have been designing and running role play websites since I was 12 years old.
1 Husband, 1 Western Hognose Snake (male), 2 ferrets (2 females), 1 male jungle leopard gecko, 4 gerbils (2 females & 2 males), 1 male dwarf rabbit, 3 guinea pigs (1 male, 1 female and 1 female skinny pig), 2 American parakeets, 2 cats (male bobcat hybrid and a male Egyptian Mau mix), and 2 dogs (female Mini Dachshund and a female Alaskan Malamute).

You are AWESOME. I'm in love with your pet naming skills, do I see some names from The Sight in there? also, I have been looking for the name of that game for AGES.

Welcome to the forums, and yes this forum is for other snakes as well. They have a thread just for your Hognose .

They also have threads for your breeding of rats & mice. They have a forum for dogs and cats as well. You'll find that pretty much anything has a category on which you can post under. Hope you enjoy the forums.

    Thanks Neal!

@Archimedes: Yes, some names are from The Sight. Some are from Mabinogi. Some are from random other books/movies/etc and usually are named that for some reason (Nemo is a runt mouse with one tiny ear and one large ear. Reeces is a chocolate and tan mouse.) Other names I just made up by throwing letters together (ie: Lithir, Aithek, Amek and Amarte)

Really? Have you wanted to play mabinogi?

Be thankful that you're married. Having "just" 5 animals makes the dating scene a tad bit harder. I'm just glad there are people out there like you that make me seem like less of a hoarder!

Yeah! My boyfriend told me about it ages ago and has some of the musical themes on his phone, but I forgot to re-ask him what it was called. Gonna look it up as soon as I get to my computer!

I told my husband right off that I loved animals and that I would not allow anyone to tell me I could or couldn't get an animal if I wished. He cared about me so much that he didn't care.

A hoarder is someone who "collects" animals because of color or some other reason. They do not care for their animals and usually have an issue letting go of the bodies once the animals die. It is not at all about the amount of animals.

I care for all of my animals better than I care for myself. I feed them the best foods I can and spend most of my time with them. And I bury my dead animals... except for the mice in my freezer that are used for feeding my snake and cats

Certainly no intent to call you a hoarder. I simply meant that to many people (especially in that dating scene!) are quick to label that to anyone with more than even a single pet. I think it's awesome that you have so many, and am a bit jealous.

Oh I know. I am constantly told by family members that they're going to call me in as a hoarder... It irritates me, especially because they have no idea what animals I have or how many I have... They just know I have rodents and a snake and they find both disgusting.
