Ajja used to do it when she was tiny. She'd get all wound up to tag her mouse, lift the last couple inches of her tail, and just start wagging away.

Speaking of lizards, there's some kind of lizard here around my house that looks almost identical to a Speckled Rattlesnake. When they're threatened, they coil up, tuck their legs under their bodies, and whip the ends of their tails back and forth. It's a pretty convincing impersonation. My cat was not fooled.
