List of Boa constrictor Sub-Species and Localities

Gorgeous pictures everyone!!!

While I LOVE seeing pictures of the Colombian morphs, lets try to keep this to the specific localities and sub-species. Eventually, I'd like to start a thread for the morphs too, but I wanted this particular thread to help people identify the various sub-species and subsequent localities without the added confusion of the vast number of morphs involved, lol.

Every one of you should be ashamed of yourselves for rubbing your gorgeous boas in my face. Especially daybreaker, who posted the best example of Hog Island color change I've ever seen!

Seriously though, gorgeous animals, all of them. Thanks for sharing. If it weren't for the fact that IBD absolutely TERRIFIES me, I would love to have a Hog Island or Dumeril myself.

Okay what kind of boa is this?!? He is freaking gorgeous! he looks like a piece of candy! What is the name of this morph? By the way I love this thread! I'm not well versed in boa stuff at all so this thread helps a lot! I'd love to own a beautiful boa some day.

Thank you so much for your compliments! This is a male sunglow motley boa. I just got him (my first boa) this summer. I would highly recommend a boa if you are looking for a mid size snake that is fun to handle and easy/tame for beginners. I will upload more photos in the new year.

Well I had no idea that there was more to the Colombians than just well... Colombian, haha. So is it that there are "Colombian" boas, and then there are "Colombian Barranquilla" and then "Colombian Peters Type B" (meaning there are 3 types of Colombians), or are the "Peters Type B" and "Barranquilla" the two types of Colombian boas?

Also the rare Colombian BCC and the Leticia Colombian BCIs. The Leticia BCI's may actually be Peruvian BCC according to Russo from the book THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR. It is possible the said boas from that region were only shipped from there.

Even still, the "common Colombian boa" is not always so common.

The Barranquilla Colombian boa: Seen here,




often resembles some of the "Key West" boas, or actually the other way around as Key West boas are beautiful morphs that look like the Barranquilla locality with some obvious differences.
