Using Glue With Animal Plastics Rack?

Hey guys, christmas came early when I saw a huge box labeled "ANIMAL PLASTICS" in my driveway hahah. Its a 3 level high sterilite rack which I have recently unboxed to make sure everything looks right (which is does) I am only 20 and not at all a hefty construction guy so of course my father would be helping and he took a look. He mentioned how the wood used in it was soft and and offered he used some wood glue on it. He said it is called "Liquid Nails" and holds wood together extremely well and would work well. He said it is very heat resistant and would not be toxic once dried so I dont really see a problem, do any of you? I wanted to take to these forums strictly cause snakes are involved, other than that my dad is a scientist so i usually trust him and things like this. Can anyone find a problem?! Thanks in advance

Of course your mad scientist father thinks the wood they used is soft - because it's actually not wood at all! It's CDPVC.

There is no reason to use glue to hold together the racks.

Hahah well he did just yell at me cause apparently he never said it was wood but it is soft and wouldn't that glue make it hold together stronger?

Probably, but I don't see any reason to use it. The screws that they send hold it together perfectly well. It's not like the rack is going to be taking a lot of abuse like furniture does (taking on the weight of a person regularly).

Also, what happens if your heat tape malfunctions for some reason? I would think gluing it together would make it much more difficult to remove the heat tape and install new.

If you do decide to glue it, make 100% sure that all of the pieces align properly before you do. I've had to back screws out before to ensure a tight fit and I'd hate to think what would have happened if I had them glued together.

that is true, i didnt think about that. The only thing im worried about is transporting it from my home, back to school

He probably wouldnt want to do that hahah I also already have the rack so ill just go with that. we were just worried due to the soft material that it wouldnt be too sturdy
