    "Man Eating Super Snake"

Currently watching Animal Planets special on the African Rock Python titled "Man Eating Super Snake". I've found myself laughing at about half the episode so far. Narrated by the same ominous voice that tells you "In a world, where sea monkeys roam the earth..." which is the main point of humor for me because it makes it so blatant that they're aiming to provoke fear in people. Also stated was that they are "Dangerous to interfere with while feeding"...well, no kidding!? I guess an ARP was the kind of snake that killed that young boy in Florida somewhat recently... And they made a very big deal about that in this episode but neglected to give so many details.. Like when the snake "escaped its tank and slithered to the 3 yr old boy..." they forgot to mention exactly how and why the snake escaped. Perhaps it was not properly secured? Or how some farmer woke up to find one of his Turkeys had been "devoured" by the snake and how horrifying that is supposed to be...

I just thought a channel like Animal Planet would be a little less biased and be less on the shock factor value and more on quality, factual information. Sorry, I just felt the need to let off a quick rant.. I really thought this show would be cool... Instead it turned out to be a lot of dramatizations, shaky camera feeds and abstract angles..

    Anybody else seen this?

    The best line so far...

"The most horrifying question of all: Are African Rock Pythons reproducing!?!?"

Uummm no.... They're just chilling and new ones magically spawn every now and again...

Animal (rights) Planet hasn't been unbiased in years. Check the credits at the end of their shows and you can see that many of them have either been produced by or funded by PETA or HSUS.

Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery have all gone downhill in recent years. They all used to be good channels with good shows that were informative without trying to resort to being shock based.

Now it just seems like it's all Platypus vs Marmot shows where they spend 60 minutes making up fights between two animals, or Extreme Animal Tails or crap like that. I don't even bother watching anymore.

Planet Earth and Blue Seas were the last quality shows any of them produced, IMO.

Ahh, I didn't realize this but it makes so much sense.. Too bad, all that funding and it's put into producing garbage. But why would companies like PETA support essentially putting out slander against animals, if that's even really possible.. You know what I mean.. It makes a lot of sense but is also contradicting...

    PETA:

    People
    Eating
    Tasty
    Animals

I had a little PETA last night. Elk and venison steaks with a lovely glaze.

Most, if not all, of these shows are glorfied dramatizations of real life events. Hype and entertainment. If we watch shows about snakes and what not it is pretty much just Jeff Corwin.

There were 2 more shows on earlier on Nat Geo Wild that talked about Retics & Anacondas...they were much more informative & spoke positively about the snakes.
Animal Planet is awful these days!
