Neat looking little guys! I didn't know ASF's came in that color... have only ever seen pics of the dark greyish-agouti / white ones.
The dominant red one looks good too. I saw a golden (I think) male at a petstore and liked the color so much it almost made me buy him.

There are many people with spiny mice, but I don't know of any others with satin. If you know of more I'd love to be put in contact with them.

Thank you! The 'golden' one you saw was likely a recessive red, that's the common red/yellow gene we have in the US.
ASFS come in tons of colours actually! I used to have at least a breeding pair of each colour and pattern.
I might post a list of colours and photos on the forum, I used to have a site dedicated to ASF genetics and information.

Rhasputin- That would be awesome! I love looking at color and pattern varieties. I guess the majority of "feeder" asf's are that one color / pattern with the others not being as common? I say that because the only pics i've seen on this forum of them are the greyish-agouti / white (possum looking guys).
My aunt shows shih-tzus and told me that the reason you see so many of the "golden / white" ones is that one breeder made them very popular in the 70's / 80's... so now you hardly ever see the other colors, like solids / black and white, etc. Maybe that color strain of ASF's is just more available like that color of shih-tzus.
I also saw what I think was a black / tan mouse the other day... I really like that color pattern. Not sure how common they are though.

Here's a photo I had sitting around, for you Artgecko.

And I posted the list of colours, you can find it in the ASF section. <3

I got them from a friend, who got them from someone who caught the mother in a live trap in her house, and noticed she was pregnant. Instead of letting the mouse loose to have the babies and do more breeding, she kept it, and it had the babies in captivity. I had the mother, and 2 of the 3 babies (someone else took the only female baby) and now I still have the two male babies, all grown up.
