no need to apologize, its better to ask questions and get the worries off your mind. My dad has a Meyers and Senegal Parrot, those are tiny to your in comparisson and my dads dog stuck its tongue in the cage trying to get seed and they put a hole in the dogs tongue in one peck so I have no doubt your bird would defend itself.
