Stupid stupid article. It's a retic, and they are not found in India or South Africa. I don't know why people feel the need to make crap like that up, but they do it all the time.

I have to wonder if the photo is even real or just a clever job with photoshop. I agree it's a stupid article though.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

News media fact checking is frequently lacking, especially if the story happens to cover something shocking, politically divisive, sensational, etc. I honestly wasn't even paying enough attention to the photo to notice that it was a retic and I was sure they'd gotten something wrong. JLC's post just confirmed that suspicion and specified what they'd gotten wrong.

"Reports of pythons eating humans are far from rare."
"Despite their gruesome reputation, pythons rarely target humans..."

    Literally 2 sentences apart.
A bit of a contradiction here but I guess it is sort of saying that the reports... are false, maybe? I don't know.
Definitely an attention-grabbing article to the naive (in the most polite sense).

Of course, because the media doesn't make money by reporting news, but by selling advertising space. No need to fact check as long as the businesses keep paying for ads.

Isn't the Daily Star just a tabloid? Since they're just repeating rumors or making things up might as well have said it consumed a suspiciously Martian shaped meal or said it was acting as a surrogate for whichever Kardashian is pregnant now.

Apparently, this photo has resurfaced several times, but it most likely ate a goat or deer. But just a warning, y'all will probably be finding your Facebook and Twitter friends sharing this with you, like the North Carolina lake python.

Just bumping the thread, in case anyone needs rebuttal links when this ignorance hits their Facebook feed. The kicker is, you have to share the "article" in order to see the story, furthering the BS.
