Because its what works best.
You can run cooler temps but you have to do it in stages.
A friend of mine rescued a collection that was in a house that had no power in the middle of winter. Granted Texas winters are not that frigid but the house was in the 30s.
Over a period of a couple weeks they were brought up to a reasonable 85ish degrees without any problems. No loss or illness at all. Feeding was not attempted till they were stable for another couple weeks.
He doesnt run any heat in his room until the temps drop into the low 70s.

I just keep them close to 95 on the hot and most stay in that area.
